Book Review: Linger by Maggie Stiefvater

Sam, who spent most of his life as a werewolf, has undergone an unlikely cure and no longer transitions between fur and skin as the temperature changes from cold to hot. This should be a happy time for Sam and true-love Grace, but just as he begins to trust his new human life, Grace feels her humanity slipping away. Sam's focus is split between worry for Grace and his role as caretaker of the werewolf pack, which for the first time in years includes new members.

Review: I thought the first book (Shiver) was better than this one. Linger didn't have much of a plot. Maggie Stiefvater is a great writer though and she does a great job of being descriptive. I didn't like how the Point of View switched between the four main characters: Sam, Grace, Isabel, and Cole. I got a little bit confused sometimes. I like knowing each person's point of view, but the book switched POV's way too much.

There's a part in the book when Cole attacks a deer in his wolf form, then finishes it off in his human form. I didn't like that part because made me sad, but at the same time it shows what kind of person Cole is. Cole is the "bad boy" in this book. He is handsome, mysterious, but dangerous. Before he turned into a werewolf, he was the main singer in a popular band and he also did drugs and other bad things. When he turned werewolf, he wanted to do anything to stay a werewolf to escape his human life.

The middle of this book went by really slow. Nothing major happened and I was just waiting for Grace to be allowed to see Sam. When she finally sneaks out to hang out with Sam, the book started to get more interesting. I really liked how the book ended. I'm glad that Sam and Grace stayed together the whole book and didn't get in a big fight or break-up. I would recommend this book if you have read Shiver and want to continue reading the series. I thought most of the book was pretty slow but I'm glad that I read it. There was some mild language and mature content. I give this book 3.5 coffee cups.
